THOUGHT OF THE WEEK (Lent Week 4): “Waiting Upon the Lord”
Over the past year, I had more time to reflect upon my own spiritual journey and I found myself slowly losing the passion and fire I once had in my younger days after discovering the love of Jesus. I felt increasingly torn by the suffering around me that people face and with the pandemic disrupting peoples lives, it only seemed to get worse.
But at the same time, I experienced answered prayers and this slowed world we lived in helped me take a step back to look at the big picture. Remembering there is a powerful God out there that will one day bring about his plans in our lives and put an end to the suffering in the world, I started to leave more of my life to God and to wait upon his time and deliverance for my own doubts, troubles, worries and desires.
It made me remember a verse that had once built up my desire to seek God in the first place.
“But those who wait on the Lord
Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint.”
Isaiah 40:31 NKJV
So no matter where I am in my life, whatever desires I have, I’ll decide to put my trust in Jesus. To rely on his strength, so that no matter what comes, be it loneliness or anxiety about the future, I know that as long as I seek his kingdom, he will be able to bring joy and purpose to my life. I hope the verse encourages you as it encourages me, that although the race we run today may be tiring, God will never leave us nor forsake us and will help us finish the race.
Happy Lunar New Year Everyone!
